The Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative founded in 1938, is an electric utility serving 74,000 members in 13 counties, primarily in DeWitt, Gonzales, Guadalupe, Lavaca, and Wilson counties and spanning 3,500 square miles. The Cooperatives headquarter office is located in Gonzales, with four other area offices in Cuero, La Vernia, Schertz and Seguin.
Welcome to the Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative (GVEC). By becoming a member, you have also become part owner of a private, independent electric utility distributing electricity to over 65,000 meters in 13 counties across South Central Texas.
You are now part of an organization anchored firmly in the communities we serve and committed to providing reliable, value-added services and programs to our membership. Part of that service means helping you understand what a cooperative is, how it operates, your role within it, and the benefits that come with this unique form of business.
Cooperatives are locally owned and operated by the members they serve. They are democratically governed by a Board of Directors elected by the members themselves to represent their voice in the business of the cooperative. The board ensures the cooperative is legally and ethically run according to its by-laws and tariff.
When you are a part of a cooperative, you are not just a member, you are an owner. As a GVEC member-owner, you are encouraged to become involved in the business of GVEC through:
Electing a District Director to serve on the Board of Directors as your voice in Cooperative business.
Taking part in District Meetings and attending the Annual Meeting
As a GVEC member-owner, you’ll reap the rewards from capital credit refunds, and stay up to date with the latest electric industry news and local people, places, and events through the GVEC Review found within Texas Co-op Power Magazine, distributed monthly.
